support neurodivergent learning

We recognise that everyone learns at different rates and in different ways.

The Learning Hive is a sister company of the Neurodiversity Hive – a transdisciplinary practice supporting neurodivergent people, of all ages. Frances Kaplan, an educational psychologist, realised years ago that neurodivergent families were misunderstood, and underserved in their communities. Desperately needed services were fragmented, and finding a team that could work holistically was difficult for these families.

In order to better help their clients, she decided to join forces to bring about a transdisciplinary team, that focuses on Autism, ADHD, Specific Learning differences, Sensory Processing differences as well as Language differences.

As a neurodivergent person, who attended 3 high schools before finding her happy place, Frances knows all too well how important it is to find the right learning environment. Frances has been registered with the HPCSA as a registered counsellor specialising in trauma since 2010, and as an educational psychologist, since 2016. She worked in government schools for children with special educational needs, as well as a mainstream private school since 2010. She opened her private practice in 2016..”

The Learning Hive caters for young people with neurodivergent conditions, such as ADHD, Autism, and Learning Disabilities.

The centre is focused on self-paced and self-led learning, young people are not left on their own. Care Collaborators are always near for support.

Guided by Human Rights, each young person is afforded the opportunity to have bodily autonomy, and decide on their own process and end goals.

Through a collaborative approach, young people are able to voice their needs, set their expectations, and receive support in achieving their goals.

The Learning Hive is dedicated to empowering neurodivergent teens who struggle with traditional schooling. We provide a safe, nurturing, and affirming space where young people have autonomy over their learning environment and pace. Through flexible, self-directed learning opportunities aligned with recognized curricula, individualized support, and passionate mentorship, we aim to reignite each young person’s love for learning while fostering a sense of belonging and pride in their neurodivergent identity.
