Would The Learning Hive be a good fit for you?

The Learning Hive caters specifically to neurodivergent students aged 12 to 18 and designed to accommodate and support their unique needs.

Age and Academic Prerequisites:

• Ages 12 to 18: The centre caters for young people in this age range, ensuring that the curriculum and social activities are age-appropriate.

• Completed Grade 6: Youth should ideally have completed the sixth grade, providing a foundational level of education.

Documented Learning Differences:

• ADHD and Autism: Both are neurodevelopmental conditions that impact the way a person perceives and responds to the world. At the Learning Hive, we place a strong focus on the young person’s interests and natural skills, to scaffold their learning experience.
• Specific Learning Disorders: This includes challenges in writing (dysgraphia), spelling, reading (dyslexia), and mathematics (dyscalculia).
• Sensory Processing Differences: Neurodivergent individuals often experience a sensory system that either seeks or avoids certain sensory inputs. At the Learning Hive, our environment is thoughtfully designed to accommodate these sensory needs, ensuring that neurodivergent youth can engage comfortably without facing overwhelming sensory challenges on a daily basis.

• Need for Autonomy and Difficulty in Mainstream Settings: Young people often benefit from having control over their learning environment and schedule. The Learning Hive encourages independence through self-paced and self-led learning, and opportunities for self-advocacy.
• Difficulty in Mainstream, Remedial, or Home-School Programs: Youth who struggle in traditional educational settings due to their learning differences and inflexible or rigid systems, should enjoy the freedom to learn in their own way at the Learning Hive.
• Average and Higher Intellectual Ability: The curricular offered through CambriLearn is designed for youth with an average and above-average range of intellectual ability. The young persons enrolled at the Learning Hive, have a desire to pursue tertiary education and will therefore need to be capable of completing the necessary curriculum, to reach their dreams.
• Desire to Complete Their Education: Young persons enrolling at the Learning Hive are motivated to finish their secondary education, with a clear desire to enter into a tertiary programme.
